A share account is required to become a member of the VAC Employees Federal Credit Union. This accounts represents your membership and eligibility for other services we have to offer.

A $5 minimum balance is required to activate a share account with a $1 initial entrance fee. You must maintain a $5 balance in your share account at all times.

We offer a share (savings) account with a dividend rate that is compounded daily and paid quarterly to accounts with a minimum average balance of $50.00. Accounts are federally insured up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).

Christmas Club accounts

A Christmas club is a great way to save for your holiday shopping. Our Christmas club accounts begin October 1st and end September 30th. The balance of your club account is automatically transferred to your share account after dividends are posted on September 30th.

Dividends are compounded daily and posted quarterly to accounts with a minimum average balance of $50.00.

Any withdrawal requests from this account will incur an early withdrawal penalty.

Special Club accounts

Separate club accounts can be established for your savings needs that are separate from your primary share account. This is a convenient way to keep your savings separate for vacation, taxes, or any other reason.

Dividends are compounded daily and posted quarterly to accounts with a minimum average balance of $50.00.

Share Draft checking accounts

Our checking account is very similar to a basic bank checking account except:

We offer a VISA check card with our checking accounts and an overdraft line of credit. Inquire at our office for the details on our application requirements.

We offer Clarke American checks, which you may purchase or you may decide to purchase your checks from a company of your choice.

Time Share Certificates

We offer time share certificates at 6 months, 12 months and 24 months terms.

Rates are posted monthly and are locked in for the term of the certificate. Dividends are paid quarterly. All time share certificates have a minimum balance requirement of $1,000 and are insured up to $250,000.

IRA Share and IRA Time share Certificates

We offer the following IRA accounts:

The Traditional and Roth IRA is offered as an IRA share account and also as an 18-month time share certificate. The IRA share account offers all the benefits of an IRA with the flexibility of direct deposit contributions. The IRA time share certificate locks your deposit in at 18 months with no deposits or withdrawals within that time, but at a higher rate of interest. It’s always a good idea to check with your tax consultant to determine which IRA is most beneficial to you; so choose the IRA that best suits your needs.

The Coverdell Educational Savings Account (ESA) is an ideal way for you to begin saving money to help a child, grandchild, or any young person you know pay for higher education expenses down the road. Contributions to a Coverdell ESA are not tax-deductible, but distributions used to pay for the qualified education costs of the named beneficiary are generally tax free.

55+ Club Accounts

This account is designated for our members 55 years of age and older. The first box of checks is free to a new checking account opened by a 55+ club member.

Our senior members also have a reduced fee on purchase of money orders.

Scottie Savers Club

Our Scottie Savers Club is a share account designated for our young members from birth to 12 years of age. We wish to encourage saving and promote the credit union philosophy to our young people.

Children are encouraged to deposit to the account on a regular basis. For every $5.00 deposit, one Scottie buck is earned. Scottie bucks can be saved to purchase any Scottie item.

Varsity Club accounts

Our Varsity Club is a share account designated for our young adults between the ages of 13 and 19. We strive to educate our young members about good money management through various types of accounts.

VISA Credit Card

Classic VISA Credit Card

Credit lines up to $5000 are available with no annual fee. There is a 25-day grace period on new purchases and free travel insurance on every card. Our annual percentage rate is 10.9%

VISA Gold Credit Card

Our VISA Gold card has a low 8.9% annual percentage rate with no annual fee. A 25-day grace period is offered on new purchases along with free travel insurance, and Card Centives prime membership.

An optional credit life and disability insurance is offered on both our credit cards.

The VISA check/debit card is for our share draft / checking account members. This card allows you to make "debit" or "credit" purchases and cash withdrawals from savings or checking at any ATM that accepts VISA. Minimum age requirement for this card is 17 years of age with a parent joint owner. Cards are offered on an approval basis with a satisfactory checking account history.

Direct Deposit / Payroll allotments

All members can have their whole paycheck deposited directly to the credit union or just an allotment as long as your employer is willing to send it to us.

Direct deposit is also available for any retirement, Social Security and even income tax returns. You must be a member to have this service, which means you have a share account in your name and social security number with at least a $5.00 balance.

For our share account only members. This card will allow you to access your funds from your share account from an ATM.

Night Deposit Box

Our night deposit box is located in our drive-through window area. Use this service for after hour deposits. Your deposits or loan payments will be posted to your account every weekday morning when we open.

P.A.L. automated phone system

Our phone a linc (PAL) line is a dedicated line offered to give you access to your account 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our toll free number is 1-866-382-4586. Since we are unable to give you balances over the phone, this service provides you with account information, transfers, payments, balances, tax information, check withdrawals and other transactions.

You will need to know your account number and pin. Please contact us if you need help accessing this service.

The purchase of money orders are available to our members in any increments up to $1500 for a fee of $1.50. Our 55+ club member fee is $ .50. Guaranteed funds are required to purchase.

American Express Travelers cheques

Going on vacation and want the security of travelers cheques? Free American Express travelers cheques are available to our members. Guaranteed funds are required to purchase.
We also offer American Express travelers cheques for two for a minimal fee.

American Express Gift cheques

Give a gift of an American Express gift cheque. They come in increments of $25, $50 or $100 cheques. Each has a fee of $2.50.

We offer both the Series EE U.S. Savings Bond and the Series I U.S. Savings Bond. Both may be purchased or redeemed at our office.

Crystal Cinema movie tickets

Enjoy a movie at a discounted price by purchasing your movie tickets at the VAC Employees Federal Credit Union. These tickets are available to our members for only $6.00. That’s quite a savings! These tickets are redeemable only at Crystal Cinema theater in Painted Post, NY.

Laserwash coupons

Get a great carwash at Smith’s Laserwash at 421 W Morris St., Bath, NY. These coupons are available to everyone at $6.00 a piece.
